Artist's Comments

So here is my original design for a Jedi. It's been in my head for a while, so it's good to get a somewhat decent picture down on paper. I think I drew the dress a little long, it's actually supposed to be around the same length as the top of the boots, ooops!

It consists of a chocolate brown wrap dress (using this pattern: [link];page=4) worn with deep green pants/tights and my brown jedi boots ([link]). For the obi I'm hoping to find a similar shade of green in a textured fabric for interest, and it will be patchworked with a different shade of brown (haven't decided darker or lighter yet). Living in the climate in which I live (ranging from rather hot to pretty cool) I gave my outfit short sleeves with a green long sleeved under tunic when worn in cooler weather. The skirt splits won't be as defined as in the picture, I exaggerated them in order to make them show up. My idea is that when standing still, the splits will be invisible, but when moving (particularly at speed) the skirt will open out for ease of movement. Plus it would just look aesthetically cool (In my head anyway) and compliment the movement, like a dancers skirt etc. I didn't include tabbard because I felt they would make the design a little too cluttered and take away from the simplicity of my design.

Over the top of it all, I'm planning a sleeveless, hooded jacket thing, very much like the one Jennifer Garner wore in Electra. But I'm still not sure about this, I'll see what else I can come up with.

It's not your usual Jedi outfit, but i wanted something unique and different. I'd love to hear what people think! I'll put up a better picture when I have more time

Hey Tula! thanks very much, I was pretty happy with the design. I'm also going to add some embroidery around the slits (I forgot to put that in). I need to do a better version, but my hand is still really sore, so that might have to wait. Coloured pencils are the original and the best! I find them so easy to work with and have great results. Pity my scanner washes out the colour though :P

I think I shall go and check out your gallery now! :P

I'm so looking forward to seeing further versions and then the finished product =D .
